Welcome to Kiekko-Espoo's ringette school for the 2024-2025 season!

Get ready to start an incredible journey into the world of ringette. We are proud to offer the wonderful world of ringette to the family's youngest members, girls aged 2-7. For older girls we have our own Youth Group available on Tuesdays in Leppävaara ice hall at 18.30-19.15 or on Sundays in Matinkylä at 18.00-19.00.

Ringette is a unique and inspiring team sport designed specifically for girls.  

What is ringette school? 

Our ringette school is a fantastic way to kickstart a journey in ice sports. Our program focuses on child-friendly joyful learning and enjoyment while building strong foundational ringette skills, like how to handle a stick and manage a ring. With our youngest participants, we concentrate on developing motor skills, balance, and coordination through games and tracks.

For older children, we provide more challenging practice sessions while promoting teamwork, the spirit of sportsmanship, and fair play values. You can learn just the basics of skating, but you can also go on to become a player on a team. You join teams mainly according to your enthusiasm, age and skill level. 

What you can expect from the Kiekko-Espoo Ringette School:  

Beginner-Friendly Environment: Our instructors are trained professionals who understand the needs and levels of children of different ages. Our aim is to help your child learn the solid foundation of skating at the pace that suits them best. 

Safe Learning Platform: All exercises and games are thoughtfully planned to allow children to learn and progress in a safe environment.  

Learning Ringette Basics: Children get their first taste of ringette by learning fundamental skills such as skating, stick handling, and ball handling with the stick.  

Social Interaction: The ringette school provides an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships and experience working within a group.  

Emphasis on Fun: Having fun is our number one priority! We encourage a joyful atmosphere where every child can create wonderful experiences through ringette.

Times and places: 

Ringette skating school will be held in Leppävaara, Laaksolahti, Matinkylä and Espoonlahti ice halls. Ringette school's autumn season starts in the beginning of September.

Leppävaara: Tuesdays at 17.45-18.30 or Saturdays at 13.45-14.45

Espoonlahti: Saturdays at 11.00-12.00

Matinkylä: Sundays at 10.30-11.30

Laaksolahti: Sundays at 12.30-13.30

Skate n Fun youth group (2009-2016 born girls):

Leppävaara: Tuesdays at 18.30-19.15.

Matinkylä: Sundays at 18.00-19.00.

You can choose to attend once a week or twice a week. 

What to wear?

All you need to bring with you are skates, a helmet (preferably with a face cover), winter gloves and neck protection or clothing to protect neck.

For learning to skate, we recommend ice hockey skates that do not have spikes and that support the child's ankle. The best skates for ringette school are laced skates. Remember that skates need to be sharpened from time to time.

What does it cost?

The autumn season of the Ringette School is now only 65€ when your child attends once a week.

Skate n Fun group once a week is €30 / month or twice a week €50 / month.

Every child must have a ringette licence. The LK2 licence is for children under 12 years old. With insurance the license costs 23€ and without insurance 10€. The license is purchased by everyone through the Suomisport.fi service.
